  • All kinds of CD and DVD drives are supported (including USB, Firewire, SATA and SCSI drives).
  • A secure, fast and burst extraction method selectable. Fast extraction should run at the same speed as other grabbers with jitter correction but is probably not exact anymore. Burst mode just grabs the audio data without any synchronization.
  • EAC is able to copy ranges of music data, not only tracks.
  • Volume normalization of extracted audio to a given percentage.
  • Compression offset support for exact compression/decompression.
  • Automatic creation of CUE sheets for Burnnn, Feurio, Nero or even EAC, which can include all gaps, indicies, track attributes, UPC and ISRC and also CD-Text for an exact copy.
  • Synchronizing between tracks for non-accurate stream drives.
  • Record and loop record functions for recording from LP, radio, etc.
  • Catalog extraction function (e.g. first 20 seconds of a track).
  • CD-Write support for some drives (internally and using CDRDAO).
  • Small WAV editor with the following functionality: delete, trim, normalize, pad, glitch removal, pop detection, interpolation of ranges, noise reduction, fade in/out, undo (and much more).

Pick the desired output format

The second compressor has separate file naming conventions
The freedb++ plugin has been replaced by a MusicBrainz plugin (the official freedb will cease to exist)
The cover downloader in the plugin has been updated to find again more images

  1. Will rip audio CD’s that have skipping and such – I had a CD that skipped, and had no apparent damage, and it copied it. Also copied audio tracks from an ‘enhanced’ CD and ripped them accurately. Interface is a bit fiddly, and you will have to rename your ripped tracks, it won’t show the names. A good addition to other tools.

  2. It requires Windows Vista. It’s not usable with newer Windows versions.

  3. None that I can see. Some people seem to feel that some form of multiple pass process is required to be really thorough. Maybe I’m missing something but if Killdisk really writes a binary zero to every byte on the drive, that sounds pretty darn “wiped” to me.

Admittedly, I have no particular knowledge of DOD standards or Gutzman algorithms, etc.

  4. The report display incorrect date when use Other Windows that not use English or American Date format.

  5. It’s a good file shredder but it does have some glitches. On hard drives with compressed files it’ll give errors like “Error: Reached the end of file” and “Failed…”, and sometimes it will lockup and make a file grow to the maximum extent (the remaining free space on your hard drive). And it seems it takes forever to overwrite your hard drives anyway, especially if you try to use the Gutmann method on a 40 GB hard disk. I would put it on “Pseudorandom Data” for speed.

  6. Licence attached to hardware, so a change of PC forces you to email Neitsoft to reset, but if only change of external USB drive / memory stick the licence is still works.

  7. READ the user agreement – this “update” gives you embeded scripted ad content, collect data, stores third party content on your hard drive, and other you probably aren’t expected in an “upgrade”. Looks more like a Trojan Horse, in the original sense,

  8. After paying $24, I get an automated email that says I’ll get the registration information in the next 24 hours… Are you kidding?! I download software from the Internet so I can use it NOW, not sometime tomorrow. They need to at least make this clear (that they’re amateurs) up front…or get a Web person worth his/her salt. Really, really annoying. Especially since I’ll need to find something else now to finish my project due today.

  9. The “tracks” are just textboxes that the user must move around manually. No automatic alignment is possible. It’s also not possible to put a label on the ends of the CD jewel case. Worse yet, when the user tries to print a label, a textbox appears that informs the user that paying for the program will eliminate this textbox. It takes about 30 seconds for it to do this, after which printing is possible. Technically, one can use it for free if you don’t mind the annoyance.
